Abstract: The Recreation Works II project is the second consecutive federal grant project that focuses on the importance of recreation leisure awareness and involvement for people with disabilities as they pursue their work goals in the community. Awarded to the Center for Community Partnerships in collaboration with the City of Fort Collins Adaptive Recreation Opportunities (ARO) program, the Recreation Works project connects CSU occupational therapy graduate students, as well as CSU students in a variety of study areas, with community members who have disabilities. Involved college students work closely with individuals with disabilities, supporting and encouraging them with their recreational and work interests and goals. The guiding vision of the Recreation Works project is that when people are healthy and involved in the social/recreation-leisure areas of their lives, they are far more likely to be successful in the world of work.
