The Center for Community Partnerships (CCP) is a popular Level II Fieldwork Site for occupational therapy students from Colorado State University, as well as from universities across the country. Occupational therapy (OT) student interns develop skills in working with children, youth and adults with disabilities in a variety of community-based settings. CCP staff occupational therapists and the CCP interdisciplinary team work closely with student interns, mentoring them as they learn to conduct functional, community-referenced assessments with participants, identifying strengths, skills, abilities and challenges in the home, school, community, recreational and work domains. In addition, students have opportunities to assist with occupational therapy job site analyses with individuals who have either sustained work-related injuries, or who are having difficulties at their jobs and are needing adaptations or accommodations in order to be successful at work. Student interns not only become experts in community-based services, including supported employment, but they also have opportunities to learn about and assist with program development and funding procurement activities.
